Due to an abundance of caution, the CCSD will release students on Thursday, Sept. 26th at 12 noon local time for schools. Friday, Sept. 27th will be an E-Learning Day for all students & staff working from home. This decision was made as a safety precaution. Stay weather aware.

Shawmut Nurse’s Note It is absolutely heart-breaking to discuss a topic of this nature when discussing our very young students but, let’s talk about vaping. Of course, I know your 6-7 year old child cannot walk into a store and buy vapes but that will not stop them from getting their hands on one. They are being found on playgrounds, sidewalks and in the homes of their friends. If your child finds one, they will probably have no idea what they are but you know they’re going to be curious and probably pick it up. The terrifying fact is, though, that as harmful as vapes are, they may not be filled with what they were intended to be filled with. Vapes are being found right here in our small community with marijuana, meth and even Fentanyl. I shudder to even imagine the consequences of these chemicals in the hands and mouths of a small child. If you use a vape yourself, please be mindful about how curious children are and keep it far away from their eyes and hands as possible. Please, parents, grandparents, adult friends, talk to your children about not picking up anything that looks unusual. Take a good look around where your child is exploring. Watch over your children carefully. This world just gets scarier by the year. Don’t let your child be a statistic. Brenda Strickland, LPN Shawmut Elementary School Nurse

The CCSD is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. It is observed annually from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15th. The 30-day period was set by President Reagan in 1988 & enacted into law. Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to honor the cultures, histories and contributions of Hispanics & Latino Americans to America. This year’s theme is “Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together.” La frase encaja perfectamente con el tema de este año del Mes Nacional de la Herencia Hispana: "Pioneros del Cambio: Moldeando el Futuro Juntos."

Chambers County School District FY 25' Annual Evaluation of the Content and Effectiveness of the LEA Parent and Family Engagement Policy (Required for LEAs with Title I Schools) What the law requires: The LEA must (1) conduct with parents an annual evaluation of the content and effectiveness of the parent and family engagement policy in improving the academic quality of Title I schools, including identifying barriers to greater participation by parents in authorized activities; and (2) use the findings to design more effective strategies and revise the policy. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSetBPH27cP4OQZnSeiufWkaWkiJJqpKpymnYfjcnnD5MrJtfQ/viewform?usp=sf_link PowerPoint Presentation: https://5il.co/2vp19
