Principal’s Corner
Welcome to Bob Harding Shawmut Elementary School’s page! My name is Tana Cannon, and I am the principal. This is my fourth year as principal at BHS, and my 31st year in Chambers County Schools. I have taught kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, Title I Reading K-3, and 9th-12th grade reading, and I have been a Reading Coach at both the elementary and secondary levels. I have an Associate’s degree from Southern Union, a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from LaGrange College, and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Troy State University. I have three children, Kelsey, Kylar, and Kayden, and two granddaughters, Chaslyn Grace and Harper James.
I have spent most of my life in the Shawmut community, and I attended Shawmut Methodist Church with Mr. Bob Harding, for whom our school is named. All three of my children attended BHS, and my oldest granddaughter is in kindergarten here this year. All of these things, combined with the wonderful faculty and staff, students, and parents that we have at Bob Harding Shawmut Elementary, make being principal here so special to me!!
We have many great things planned for the 2024-25 school year, and our amazing TRIBE staff is super excited about working with you and your children!
